Job Summary

The Compensation Analyst conducts analysis and interpretation related to the organization's compensation programs. This role is directly involved with evaluation and analysis to determine whether the organization is paying salaries (and incentives) that are equitable and competitive within the marketplace. These analysts develop, communicate, and implement all components of recognition and rewards programs for the inclusion of base pay, bonuses, and incentives, as well as oversee various aspects of compliance as it relates to minimum wage and FLSA. Their aim is to assist the company in attracting competent associates and keeping them.

Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Typically requires a bachelor's degree and 2 to 4 years of experience in any compensation-related activities.
  • 2 to 3 years experience as a compensation analyst or in any area of HR administration is an advantage.
  • High-level proficiency in Excel (including but not limited to pivot tables, sorting, charts, and formatting).
  • Excellent investigative and analytical skills to discern variances and trends.
  • Performs work under general supervision.
  • Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
  • Possesses solid working knowledge of subject matter.
  • May provide leadership coaching and/or mentoring to a subordinate group.
  • Excellent time management, interpersonal communication, presentation, organization, decision-making, and planning skills.
  • Able to handle a superior level of confidentiality concerning associate information.
  • Ability to use software and hardware effectively including MS Office, Visio, and Access.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluates the organization's jobs, documenting responsibilities and requirements in job descriptions.
  • Contributes organizational data to and analyzes results of compensation surveys.
  • Conducts market analysis of company jobs to determine competitive positioning of the organization's pay programs.
  • Oversees minimum wage/union wage compliance processes and communication, auditing and implementation of changes as dictated by city/state requirements.
  • Participates in annual salary administration programs including salary structure creation and maintenance and development of incentive or salary increase budgets.
  • Participates in administration of annual performance management, incentive, or salary increase programs.
  • Assists in the execution and administration, providing analytical support for a variety of compensation policies and programs.
  • Prepares supporting data for the review of annual salary budget.
  • Prepares statistical analysis, data modeling, incentive pay programs, and costing of base.
  • Assists with developing appropriate job descriptions and maintaining a website for accessing compensation information and job descriptions.
  • Assists with managing job documentation, job descriptions, databases, and tables related to job codes and job families.
  • Provides support to HR department concerning interpretation of compensation practices and guidelines.
  • Provides guidance on issues related to compensation for management.
