Our client, is a Private‑Equity backed leading engineered polymer solutions manufacturer seeking a strong entrepreneurial and change‑management oriented accountant to provide process and financial leadership to help guide their U.S. Division through its acquisition and organic growth. While managing the financial administration of the division, the Controller will be a leader and motivator who can lead process transition, handle speed of change, and add value as a strategic partner to operational leadership. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer of the parent company.

Our client, Polycorp, is rapidly growing through a combination of acquisitions and organic growth, anchored by its first company, Polycorp Ltd, which is based out of Elora, Ontario in Canada, and has manufactured elastomers for 30+ years. With the recent addition of Burke Industries (dba) in San Jose, California, Polycorp is now situated with even more global reach and customer industries, resulting in a true technology partner, providing highly engineered elastomeric solutions to protect people, infrastructure, and processes in critical applications and demanding environments including aerospace and defense.

This is truly a growth platform, and that growth is well underway. As such, ideal candidates are a change agent, with a combination of Public Accounting and manufacturing industry controller backgrounds with experience driving the implementation of new processes and systems to facilitate that growth while managing the financials, including FX and other challenges related to consolidation and transfer pricing. This role is based in San Jose, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Oversee the coordination and control of the daily operation of the division’s accounting and financial reporting activities

Provide leadership for streamlining and improving business processes

Partner with business leadership to provide transparency for production costs, facility expenses, and profitability through creation of customized reports, dashboards, etc.

Direct and manage the division’s business’ monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statement closing processes

Lead the division’s budgeting process

Forecasting the impact of business decisions and expected outcomes on all financial results

Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results for the division

Report to the corporate group to facilitate in consolidated and external financial reporting Direct and manage the business’ treasury management, any payroll / HR functions, assist in key raw material procurement activities as needed, and tax related reporting

Will help facilitate the migration of acquired companies from SAP or other legacy ERPs into the Company’s newly implemented ERP, Syspro

Design, implement and maintain accounting processes, procedures, and related internal controls

Responsible for supervising, hiring, training, retaining, and developing staff as needed in accordance with the company’s objectives

Being the division’s point of contact for all auditor requests

Interface extensively with various groups throughout the organization as well as the executive team

Other duties as assigned

Minimal travel (once or twice quarterly)

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of eight years of accounting experience

Public Accounting experience is highly desirable

Experience as a Controller or Accounting Manager in a manufacturing company (with government contracts a plus)

Experience working with international entities, including FX and other challenges related to consolidation and transfer pricing

Strong corporate reporting experience

Experience working with small‑midsize industrial companies, either as a public‑accountant to, or an employee for those organizations

A team‑player leader, with relationship skills to establish the accounting function as a value‑add to operations leadership

Problem‑solving and analytical skills are a must; also, must have a thorough understanding of business processes and internal controls

Ability to identify business improvement opportunities and work as a partner with operations, manufacturing, and sales to capitalize on those opportunities

Willingness to wear multiple hats and grow with the company

Solid technical accounting experience

Adept with ERP systems (Syspro preferred), including their implementation into newly acquired companies

Ability to lead, motivate and coach employees

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Experience with process design and implementation in accounting area

Experience interacting effectively across an organization

EDUCATION CREDENTIALS

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting is required

CPA is preferred
