Lead/Principal Quantum Compiler Engineer – Lead position in Broomfield, CO. Remote work up to 2 days per week may be approved. Quantinuum supports close collaboration while employees work at their assigned location. Our compiler team bridges groundbreaking quantum applications with the computing power of quantum machines. As a Quantum Compiler Engineer, you will join an interdisciplinary team of physicists and software developers to transform platform-agnostic quantum algorithms into concrete, executable instructions tailored for state-of-the-art trapped-ion quantum computers. In this role, you will collaborate with compiler specialists to develop user-friendly languages and tools for crafting quantum programs. You will help advance heuristics and algorithms for optimizing ion routing across complex topologies, enhancing the speed and efficiency of quantum applications on our platforms. Your work will contribute to optimizing code generation for quantum computing and help shape the future of quantum technology, enabling our quantum computers to realize their full potential. Key Responsibilities

Drive strategic vision and leadership in architecture and implementation of compilers targeting advanced quantum computer capabilities Collaborate with industry leaders to develop standards that support future machine capabilities and foster partnerships Mentor and develop technical leadership within the compiler team to build long-term organizational capability and architectural vision Oversee advanced compiler design projects and development including: Front-end (quantum languages), Back-end (machine-specific targeting) & Optimization passes (quantum and classical optimization) operating on both classical and quantum operations Foster cross-disciplinary collaboration with physicists and other engineering disciplines to solve complex problems Champion code quality and engineering excellence, contributing high-quality code in an R&D and rapid prototyping environment Qualifications

Masters or PhD degree required Minimum 5+ years of industry or post-graduate experience in engineering, lab, or R&D Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience developing compiler infrastructure and technologies Minimum 2+ years of experience developing compilers targeting quantum computers U.S. government-related eligibility requirements related to national security U.S. person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or eligible with work authorization) We Value

Masters/PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field 10+ years of programming experience in Python, Rust, C++, or similar languages Experience with LLVM toolchain and MLIR or other high-level IR Track record of algorithm development for complex optimization problems and clear communication of solutions Experience as a technical lead in an academic or industry R&D team focused on compiler technologies Rust development experience including LLVM or optimization algorithm work Experience with various algorithms (tree, graph, SAT, Machine Learning) and applications-specific/heuristic algorithm development Proficiency with software testing and deployment tools Compensation & Benefits

$170,000 - $230,000 a year Incentive Eligible
