Senior Siemens Controls Engineer
Direct Hire or Contract | On-site - Minneapolis, MN | $140k – $160k
Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Siemens Controls Engineer to lead programming, debugging, and commissioning of complex automated processing equipment. This is a hands‑on, on‑site position with immediate impact on bringing partially completed machines to stable, production‑ready operation.
Responsibilities
Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Siemens S7-1500 / TIA Portal programs and WinCC HMIs
Integrate PLCs, HMIs, drives, and field devices via PROFINET/PROFIBUS and other industrial networks
Completing and stabilizing controls on existing equipment (VFD checkout, I/O verification, safety validation, sequence debugging)
Support FAT, SAT, and customer‑site commissioning (primarily domestic; some international travel possible)
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
7–10+ years of experience in industrial controls for custom machinery
Strong background in Siemens TIA Portal, S7-1500, and WinCC
Experience with VFDs, motion control, and PID processes
Demonstrated ability to take partially written code to fully commissioned equipment under deadlines
Independent, self‑directed, and able to own project outcomes
Effective communicator with both technical and non‑technical colleagues
