Unit Overview

The Operating Room at GW Hospital is a 17-suite surgical center supporting a high volume of complex cases including trauma, neuro, ortho, and cardiovascular surgery. The senior surgical tech plays a leadership role in daily case preparation and staff mentorship. Responsibilities

Prepare and maintain the surgical field for high-acuity procedures Serve as primary surgical tech for complex or specialized surgical cases Mentor and precept junior surgical techs and support onboarding of new hires Lead surgical setup and troubleshooting of equipment Ensure adherence to sterile technique and infection control Support OR workflow efficiency through proactive communication Assist charge nurse with daily case readiness and resource management Benefits Summary

High School diploma or equivalency Completion of an accredited surgical technology program or degree from an accredited nursing program or equivalent 2 or more years of surgical experience Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) by the NBSTSA preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required About GW Hospital
