Pathologist – Breast Pathology
The Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) is recruiting a full‑time academic surgical pathologist with subspecialty expertise in breast pathology. BIDMC is a tertiary care facility and an internationally renowned teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School with an NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center‑affiliated Cancer Center.
Key Responsibilities
Provide expert diagnostic services in surgical pathology with a focus on breast pathology
Engage in precision diagnostics initiatives, including cancer genomics, multiplex biomarker theranostics, and computational/digital pathology
Collaborate with Dana‑Farber Cancer Institute, BIDMC, and Harvard Medical Faculty Physicians (HMFP) on the new free‑standing adult inpatient cancer hospital project
Participate in clinical trials and develop companion diagnostics
Support pathology residency and surgical pathology fellowship training programs
Contribute to faculty duties and hospital service requirements as a Harvard Medical School faculty member (Instructor, Assistant Professor, or Professor)
Qualifications
Board certified in Pathology (AP or AP/CP); board certification in Molecular Pathology (NGS) is a significant plus
Strong diagnostic skills in surgical pathology with subspecialty focus in breast pathology
Experience with molecular diagnostics (NGS, FISH) preferred
Active clinical, translational, or laboratory‑based research program; NIH grant funding is an asset
Energetic, team‑oriented faculty member eager to shape future initiatives
Research Opportunities BIDMC is a national leader in NIH funding, supporting over 850 sponsored projects and 500 clinical trials. Researchers may access generous startup funds, research space, and collaboration with the Harvard‑Thorndike Laboratory and other prestigious institutions.
Benefits and Compensation
Base pay range:
$269,000 – $321,000
per year, with potential performance‑based incentives
