Job Summary
Cost Control Specialist III responsible for supporting project teams by performing cost control activities for large-scale Power Generation projects, validating and reporting project costs, incorporating trends or approved changes, and providing financial forecasts for assigned projects.
Key Responsibilities
Work with all relevant project and discipline personnel to prepare project cost expectations and tracking tools.
Understand all relevant project documents pertaining to the preparation of cost control plans and reports.
Ensure the integrity of accounting information and provide analytical services.
Monitor, maintain, and complete key reports and provide analytical functions toward capital projects utilizing data and other critical deliverables.
Collect, evaluate, and report Capital budget, project cost, work order closings and variance reporting.
Initiate, monitor, maintain and close out of capital work orders.
Create and analyze capital budgets, financial forecasts, reporting of actual financial results and variance explanations.
Work with accounting on reconciling invoices.
Assist in the preparation of accruals.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic/Minimum Requirements
High‑School Diploma or Equivalent.
Five (5) years with less than ten (10) years of experience as a project cost analyst or similar role.
Working knowledge of cost control software and ability to learn new software platforms quickly.
Advanced Excel skills.
Intermediate level skills with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Attention to detail.
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Occasional travel to client sites.
Willingness to work overtime as needed based on the project.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience as a cost controller for Power Generation, Oil Refinery, or Chemical Plant projects preferred.
Physical and Job Requirements
Must be able to lift and carry five (5) pounds.
Clear speech and hearing or other communication capabilities that allow effective communication.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
Clear vision or other sufficient observation capabilities for analysis and investigations.
Manual dexterity sufficient for routine office duties.
Personal mobility and physical reflexes necessary for office duties and travel to off‑site locations.
Travel, Safety, and Workplace Environment Travel may be required to client sites on a periodic basis. Field duties may involve outdoor work in a plant, facility, or terminal environment and require wearing safety equipment as required by the safety department. The position may require visiting more than one job site in a day and tolerating climate changes.
