Senior Project Manager – Land Development | Hybrid | VT

Overview VHB’s growing VT offices are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our Land Development group. The successful candidate will work with our team of professionals to manage all aspects of site/civil engineering for public and private sites for our diverse portfolio of ski resort, real estate, energy, infill development, and state and municipal infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

Work independently with integrated teams of engineers, environmental scientists, and landscape architects in developing site/civil engineering plans and specifications for a multitude of public and private projects with a focus on sustainability and resiliency

Lead and assist with civil engineering for retail, residential, institutional, renewable energy and industrial site design including grading and drainage design, utility design, and site layout

Preparation and/or reviewing of design criteria, drawings and specifications

Preparation of schematic design, design development, and construction contract documentation

Lead the preparation of permitting, design and construction documents

Lead, mentor and train junior staff

Project task financial performance, and management of projects

Attend meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss design/permitting issues

Technical and design report writing

Skills And Abilities

Excellent verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills

Team oriented with ability to perform multiple tasks independently in a timely manner and collaborate effectively and positively with other emerging professionals and managers

Ability to work in a fast-paced office, virtual, and field environment, in rural or urban environments

Proven strong work‑ethic and self‑motivated to produce high‑quality outcomes

Highly organized, and detail oriented, with ability to think creatively and formulate solutions in a team environment

Knowledge of local and state regulations governing site design

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study required, Master’s degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)

11+ years of professional site/civil design engineering experience, including consulting/private sector experience, required

Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and HydroCAD required, GIS experience a plus

PE (Professional Engineer) license required

Solid understanding of the typical land entitlement process in VT including permitting at the local and state level preferred

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position located in Vermont is $120,000-150,000. This offer is determined based on a number of job-related factors including internal comparators, skills, education, training, credentials, experience, scope and complexity of role responsibilities and geographic location.
