Assistant Director of Early Childhood Curriculum and Instruction

to lead the design, implementation, and improvement of our early learning curriculum. In this pivotal role, you’ll collaborate with educators, provide hands-on coaching, and ensure our classrooms meet the highest standards in instruction, engagement, and developmental support.

This is a full-time, exempt, on-site role with compensation ranging from $55,000 to $70,000 per year, depending on experience.

What we do Vogel is a well-established nonprofit organization located in Dallas with a history spanning over 36 years. Our core mission is centered around providing exceptional care and early childhood education for young children from homeless and domestic abuse shelters, all within our NAEYC accredited child care facility. Our innovative approach works to support both children and their parents through a two-generation strategy, offering resources that set families on a path toward a brighter future.

What You’ll Do Lead the development and ongoing improvement of early childhood curricula aligned with state and national standards. Ensure curriculum is inclusive, culturally responsive, and meets the diverse needs of learners, including children with special needs. Support implementation of Conscious Discipline and the Pyramid Model to address behavioral and mental health challenges. Collaborate with teachers to model effective instructional strategies and classroom management techniques. Provide real-time coaching and feedback to teaching staff through regular classroom observations and walkthroughs. Guide assessment practices that monitor developmental and academic progress, and use data to inform instructional decisions. Develop and deliver professional development focused on instructional excellence, child development, and trauma-informed care. Partner with the Director of Early Childhood Programs and leadership team to set program goals and ensure instructional quality. Coordinate the scheduling of enrichment activities, field trips, and sensory room use in collaboration with relevant team members. Oversee classroom inventory and curriculum-related budgeting needs. Assist with daily operations and act as Director when needed. Maintain compliance with all local, state, and federal (HS/EHS), and NAEYC accreditation standards. What Will Make You Successful in This Role (Skills)

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Curriculum & Instruction, or related field (Master’s preferred). Minimum 5 years of early childhood classroom experience with 2+ years in a leadership or coaching role. Deep understanding of developmentally appropriate practices and early learning pedagogy. Proven experience designing curriculum and using data to drive instructional improvements. Strong mentoring, coaching, and leadership skills. Ability to collaborate across departments and communicate effectively with families, staff, and external partners. Knowledge of trauma-informed care, social-emotional learning frameworks, and inclusive practices. Highly organized, tech-savvy, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends for professional development or events.
