Phlebotomist I Location:

Brooklyn, NY

Schedule:

Monday-Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM plus Saturday rotation

Pay range:

$18.24 – $27.36 per hour (salary offers based on experience, certifications, etc. Successful candidates may be eligible for an annual performance bonus.)

Job Description Phlebotomist I responsibilities include collecting specimens for drug screens, biometric screenings, insurance exams, and other tests. Duties encompass administering oral solutions, verifying test orders, capturing billing information and payments, processing specimens (labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport), and performing non‑patient facing duties such as inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and using email. Phlebotomists must use lab technology systems, maintain phlebotomy logs, complete training courses, and comply with departmental policies.

Responsibilities

Collect specimens according to established procedures (e.g., drug screens, biometric screening, insurance exams).

Administer oral solutions according to established training.

Verify all written and electronic orders using lab technology systems.

Accurately enter data and navigate computer systems.

Obtain identification, enter billing information, and collect payments following corporate policies.

Process specimens: labeling, centrifuging, aliquoting, freezing, and preparing for transport.

Perform non‑patient facing duties: inventory, stock supplies, sanitizing, filing, answering phones, and using email.

Read, understand, and comply with departmental policies, protocols and procedures.

Assist with compilation and submission of statistics and data.

Maintain all appropriate phlebotomy logs (e.g., maintenance logs, temperature logs).

Complete online and in‑person training courses timely.

Qualifications Required Education

High school diploma or equivalent.

Medical training preferred (medical assistant or paramedic).

Phlebotomy certification preferred. Required in California, Nevada, and Washington.

Work Experience

Preferred: one year phlebotomy experience.

Preferred: customer service in retail or service environment.

Keyboard / data entry experience.

The position requires effective communication in English.
