role at

Tesla

What to Expect At Tesla, we're accelerating the world's transition to sustainable energy, and our Energy Charging team is at the forefront of this mission. As a Front-End Software Engineer, you'll develop innovative customer experiences that empower Tesla's charging and Supercharging business units. Collaborating with core teams, you'll design, deliver, and scale tools that enhance the global charging ecosystem—from locating Superchargers and managing sessions to optimizing fleet operations and internal workflows. Your work will directly impact end customers and teams, unlocking new opportunities in the expanding EV charging market. This fast-paced, rewarding role lets you drive meaningful progress toward Tesla's goal of sustainable energy for all. This is a great opportunity to design and influence the next generation of systems supporting Tesla Charging operations.

What You'll Do

Build responsive, secure, intuitive, fast, accessible, and visually stunning global web applications for Tesla Energy customers and internal teams, leveraging React, Next.js, and modern best practices

Thrive in an agile environment, adapting quickly to evolving business needs and user feedback

Collaborate with a cross-functional team of Software Engineers, Product Managers, UX Designers, QA Engineers, and DevOps to own solutions from concept to production and beyond

Design for flexibility, scalability, and customization right from the start, incorporating server-side rendering, static generation, and API routes with Next.js

Apply first-principles thinking to optimize processes, enhance performance (e.g., via code-splitting and lazy loading), and deliver exceptional customer experiences

Work on impactful projects that directly advance sustainable energy adoption worldwide

What You'll Bring

2+ years of hands‑on experience in web application development, ideally with customer-facing and internal tools

Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML, CSS, and the React framework, including Hooks, Context API, and component lifecycle management

Strong understanding of REST principles, best practices for building and consuming RESTful APIs, and experience with GraphQL as a plus

Familiarity with core React design patterns, state management (e.g., Redux or MobX), and tools like Babel, Webpack, NPM/Yarn

Experience with Next.js for server‑side rendering, static sites, and full‑stack development (e.g., using Node.js or Express) is highly preferred—willingness to dive into full‑stack work is a big plus

Knowledge of modern web trends, including PWAs, accessibility (WCAG standards), security (OWASP guidelines), performance optimization (e.g., Lighthouse audits), and CSS‑in‑JS solutions

Passion for Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
