SOGECLAIR
The propulsion Engineer focuses on the design, analysis, and validation of engine systems and components, working closely with multidisciplinary teams within the engine manufacturer organization. The successful candidate will help ensure that the propulsion system meets all performance, safety, and certification objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Support the design and development of propulsion system components, including fan, compressor, combustor, turbine, and exhaust systems
Conduct thermodynamic cycle analysis and performance modeling to evaluate engine efficiency, thrust, and fuel burn
Perform aerothermal and structural analyses of critical components using CFD and FEA tools
Participate in component and full-engine testing, including test planning, data acquisition, and result interpretation
Support engine control system development and integration of sensors, actuators, and FADEC logic
Contribute to materials selection, cooling design, and mechanical integrity assessments for high-temperature components
Collaborate with systems engineering, manufacturing, and certification teams to ensure technical consistency and compliance with regulatory requirements (FAR Part 33, EASA CS-E)
Assist with failure analysis, root cause investigation, and design improvements during the engine test and validation phases
Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Propulsion Engineering
10+ years of experience in gas turbine or propulsion system development, preferably within an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
Strong understanding of turbomachinery design, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer
Experience with CFD/FEA software (e.g., ANSYS, CFX, Fluent, Abaqus, or equivalent)
Familiarity with engine testing environments, instrumentation, and data analysis tools
Excellent problem‑solving, analytical, and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with novel or sustainable propulsion technologies (hybrid‑electric, low‑emission, or supersonic engines)
Knowledge of combustion modeling, emissions reduction strategies, and advanced materials
Prior involvement in certification or R&D test campaigns
