About The Role The General Manager leads a single Barry’s studio, overseeing overall operation, client experience, people management, and performance. A successful candidate loves health and wellness, enjoys leading a team, can work locally and remotely, and thrives in a fast‑paced people‑filled environment.

What You’ll Do Studio Operations

Oversee daily studio operations and staff teams (Front Desk, FuelBar, Retail, and Facilities).

Drive studio performance, assess metrics, and make informed business decisions.

Manage labor schedules to ensure proper coverage and alignment with budgeted hours.

Conduct regular inspections of studio spaces, lead projects to maintain cleanliness and updates, and coordinate repairs with local and corporate leadership.

Maintain a working presence in studios and cover management shifts as needed to mentor employees and other managers.

Assist with new studio openings when required.

Team Leadership

Communicate with supervisors, peers, and subordinates to ensure all departments are supported.

Recruit, screen, and onboard new employees across all departments.

Analyze training levels to ensure consistency with Barry’s hospitality standards.

Coach the team, conduct performance reviews, and partner with People & Culture to address personnel issues.

Work with the Director of Operations to source and hire new management candidates and build a talent pipeline.

Community Marketing and Studio Dynamics

Collaborate with local and corporate marketing teams to implement brand initiatives that benefit clients and employees.

Partner on acquisition strategies for clients and the corporate team.

Create and maintain a unified culture with high staff engagement.

Company Culture

Uphold Barry’s community and culture standards and embody the company mission, vision, and values.

Represent the brand within the studio and the local fitness community.

Enhance community engagement with your studio and regional teams.

Qualifications

3–5 years of fitness management or related experience (hospitality, retail, food/beverage).

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, or equivalent experience.

Financial acumen to assess the impact of decisions.

Availability for full‑time work during non‑traditional hours (early mornings, late evenings, weekends, holidays).

Ability to train, lead, motivate, and delegate to a team.

Proficiency in handling multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment.

Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills with varied personalities, departments, vendors, and clients.

Exceptional written and oral communication, organization, and time‑management skills.

Detail‑oriented mindset focused on customer satisfaction.

Strong negotiation, mediation, and problem‑solving skills.

Proven dependability and reliability.

Friendly, outgoing personality with a can‑do, optimistic attitude.

Professional appearance and behavior at all times.

Enthusiasm for the Barry’s brand.

Physical ability to kneel, bend, reach, climb, and stand for long periods.

Ability to move and lift equipment and supplies of 30+ pounds.

Pay Range for This Role Is 80,000 – 85,000 USD per year (Los Angeles)
