What To Expect You will work as a member of Tesla’s Durability team to help design against vibration and shock loads using a combination of Test tools, Data Analysis, and CAE tools. You will be brilliant both technically as an individual, and as an active member in a diverse and challenging cross‑functional team environment. You will work with Vehicle Engineering teams to assess the durability performance of future vehicle designs to develop tests, correlate simulation models and improve the predictive capability of Analysis Engineering at Tesla.
What You’ll Do
Develop and execute vibration and shock durability tests based on raw data collected from proving ground or field data
Process public roads, proving ground durability data and develop accelerated random vibration profiles for vibration simulators
Design test fixtures in CATIA for mounting sub‑systems on electrodynamic and other shaker tables and perform fixture representativeness studies using CAE tools
Conduct vibration testing on various vehicle sub‑systems on electrodynamic shaker tables
Conduct part inspections, root cause analysis and report failures
Post‑process test data and produce test reports
Continuously improve vibration durability methodologies (simulation and testing)
Help characterize structures through various test measurements to correlate simulation models
Use CAE tools to analyze test representativeness and perform sensitivity studies to guide design
Support world‑class Engineering teams with design direction based on your assessments
What You’ll Bring
Deep understanding of mechanics of materials, statics, dynamics, and vibrations
Ability to come up with practical and theoretically sound solutions to problems never encountered before
Data processing and analysis using nCode Glyphworks, MATLAB, Python, etc.
Well‑versed with instrumentation, usage, and data consumption from accelerometers, strain gages, load transducers and other road load data acquisition sensors
Experience with 3D CAD software for fixture design (CATIA or 3D Experience preferred)
Experience in Finite Element Analysis, Applied Solid Mechanics and Numerical Methods within a product development environment
Ability to concisely convey technical communication
Able to work well under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
Strong organization skills with meticulous attention to detail
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Automotive or Mechatronics Engineering or equivalent experience

Expected Compensation $80,000 - $204,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
