Summary The SVT QA – SONiC NOS Test Engineer role is designed for a highly motivated QA professional with 7–12 years of hands‑on experience in testing network operating systems (NOS). The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in functional, system, and performance testing across the full software development lifecycle, particularly within Layer 2/L3 protocols such as VLAN, STP, BGP, OSPF, and EVPN‑VXLAN. Responsibilities include developing comprehensive test strategies, executing complex test plans, performing system‑level and interoperability testing, and automating test cases using Python integrated with CI/CD pipelines. Experience with traffic generators like Ixia or Spirent is required, and exposure to GenAI is a plus. Strong communication, collaboration skills, and relevant networking certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIP) are also preferred, along with a degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field.

Key Responsibilities

Strong understanding of Network Operating Systems (NOS), particularly SONiC

Expertise in functional, integration, regression, and performance testing

Proficient in Layer 2/3 networking protocols (e.g., VLAN, BGP, OSPF, EVPN‑VXLAN)

Skilled in designing and executing complex test strategies and test plans

Hands‑on experience with test automation using Python and integration with CI/CD pipelines

Familiarity with network traffic generators such as Ixia and Spirent

Experience with system‑level testing for stability, scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance

Ability to build and manage test topologies for real‑world simulation and interoperability testing

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with detailed bug reporting

Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Passion for continuous learning and technical skill development

Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, JNCIP) are highly desirable

Exposure to GenAI tools and technologies is a plus

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or a related technical field

7–12 years of hands‑on experience in QA or test engineering, specifically within networking products

Proven experience in end‑to‑end software development lifecycle with a focus on QA and system testing

Deep understanding of Layer 2/3 networking protocols (e.g., VLAN, STP, BGP, OSPF, EVPN‑VXLAN)

Strong proficiency in developing and executing test strategies, plans, and cases

Hands‑on experience with test automation development using Python

Familiarity with integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines

Experience with system‑level and performance testing (stability, HA, fault tolerance)

Proficient with network traffic generators like Ixia or Spirent

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional engineering teams

Exposure to GenAI technologies is a plus

Compensation Data The salary range described in this posting is an estimate by the Company, and may change based on several factors, including by not limited to a change in the duties covered by the job posting, or the credentials, experience or geographic jurisdiction of the successful candidate. Salary Range: $90k–$134k Annually
