Associate Director of Student Financial Aid Join the Hudson Valley Community College team as the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid (HV-NTPI-8448). The role reports to the Director of Student Financial Aid and is responsible for leading staff, advising students, managing federal and state aid compliance, and administering Title IV programs.

Founded in 1953, Hudson Valley Community College (HVCC) is a multi-campus institution in Troy and Malta, NY that serves nearly 9,000 students and offers more than 80 degree and certificate programs. HVCC is part of the State University of New York (SUNY) system.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and at least five (5) years of financial aid experience, including a minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role.

In‑depth knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations and experience managing financial aid software systems.

Strong oral and written communication skills, advanced technical and analytical abilities.

Preferred: three (3) or more years of progressively responsible experience using Ellucian Banner.

Master’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferred).

Nature and Scope of Duties

Oversee a team of office staff, including scheduling, evaluations, and day‑to‑day operations.

Advises students and parents on financial aid applications, eligibility, packaging, and appeals.

Reviews student Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and serves on the SAP Appeal Committee.

Assists in developing annual student expense budgets, aid packaging philosophies, and office policies.

Collaborates on the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of electronic processing systems and internal reports.

Supports the design and implementation of financial aid processes and reporting structures with Enterprise Operations.

Monitors data accuracy and report integrity across platforms such as Argos and Appworx.

Manages Ellucian Banner financial aid module functions, including data integrity, error resolution, reporting, and training.

Oversees compliance with Title IV and New York State financial aid programs, funds reconciliation, and reporting.

Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of policy changes, provides internal training, and documents procedures.

Prepares reports for federal, state, and institutional reporting and audit samples.

Delivers financial aid services, leads presentations and workshops, and resolves student concerns.

Assists with certification and reconciliation of New York State grants and scholarships.

Supports budgeting and statistical analysis for aid programs.

Completes special projects and cross‑training as requested.

Performs additional duties as assigned.

Position Details This is a 12‑month, full‑time position with a salary range of $60,000–$64,000. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance; retirement; tuition waivers for employees and families; generous leave; and eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program.
