Job Overview MRI technologists provide patient services using diagnostic MRI equipment. The MRI technologist is competent in the production of quality images to be used by physicians for patient diagnosis and treatment. The individual must be prepared to render quality patient care by exercising discretion and judgment in the performance of MRI services.
Qualifications
Licensed by the State of New Jersey as a Radiology Technologist and Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologists RT in MRI required.
Certifications and Licenses required.
Scheduling Requirements
3pm-11pm
Per Diem
Essential Functions
Reviews each requisition prior to the examination to ensure all pertinent information is available.
Reviews patient orders in chart and physician script to completing examination.
Selects appropriate type and number of images to provide required information.
Verifies outpatient identification of patient using two forms of ID (OP name & DOB).
Verifies inpatient identification of patient using two forms of ID (IP name, wrist bracelet & medical record number).
Screens for allergies/incompatibilities/proper patient preparations for examination and MRI screening form.
Ensures correct patient identification is accurate on all images.
Communicates to the patient and family before, during and after the procedure to alleviate anxiety.
Provides safety and comfort to the patients.
Prepares patient for procedure by assisting them onto exam table and off.
Ensures privacy towards patients.
Handles emergency situations calmly.
Responds to patient call bell when the opportunity becomes available.
