Job Description

Responsible for electrical engineering work in power distribution design.

Work with Project Engineers and Project Managers on developing workload forecasts, design schedules, and budgets for electrical engineering work activities.

Function as the “Engineer of Record” on projects.

Perform power system studies (load flow, short circuit, protective coordination, arc‑flash analysis).

Provide technical support for business development activities such as developing proposals.

Develop single‑line diagrams, medium voltage switch‑gear and low voltage switchboard design and specifications.

Determine ampacity and develop feeder and cable schedules.

Design and specify substations and transformers.

Create protective relay and metering one‑line/three‑line diagrams.

Prepare panel schedules, equipment layouts, sectional views, connection diagrams, and bills of materials.

Develop construction and equipment specifications.

Support projects during construction, start‑up, and commissioning.

Develop grounding layouts and lightning protection plans.

Review engineering work performed by peers.

Attend client meetings and site visits.

Conduct arc‑flash hazard calculations to determine arc‑flash boundaries and required PPE.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.

U.S. citizenship required due to contract nature.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

7+ years of electrical distribution and facility electrical system engineering experience.

Willingness to travel occasionally.

Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.

Proficiency in field walks and field sketching.

Experience collaborating with teams of electrical engineers.

Expertise in NEC, NFPA, NESC, IEEE, UFC, and other relevant codes and standards.

Experience preparing drawings, specifications, and calculations for medium‑voltage site distribution and facility designs.

Background in detailed QA/QC engineering deliverable reviews.

Extensive design experience on medium‑ and low‑voltage distribution systems (outdoor and indoor).

Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., SKM Power Tools, ETAP).

Experience in underground electrical distribution.

Experience in outdoor and indoor lighting design and photometric calculations (e.g., Visual, AGI).

Strong client and code‑enforcement agency interfacing skills.

Excellent writing, oral communication, report writing and presentation skills.

Experience writing and editing technical specifications for power and lighting design.

Leadership experience supervising electrical design teams, including engineers, designers, and drafters.

Compensation USD 113,304.49 – USD 209,613.30 per year, based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and location.
