Job Summary As a Tax Senior Manager, Private Client Services (PCS), you will use your educational background, professional experience, and interpersonal skills to provide tax compliance and consulting services to our high‑net‑worth clientele. You will lead engagements, advise clients on complex tax matters, and contribute to the growth and success of the PCS practice.
Responsibilities
Manage tax and consulting engagements, identifying client needs and opportunities for planning and consulting.
Act as the primary client contact, presenting issues and resolutions with executive presence.
Review complex individual, trust, estate, S‑Corp, foundation, partnership, and gift tax returns, providing written and verbal feedback to preparers.
Direct communication with government agencies on matters of high complexity.
Identify technical issues, conduct advanced tax research, and develop sound recommendations for PCS leadership, clients, and advisors.
Continuously expand understanding of tax concepts through client engagements and current developments.
Prioritize and review work to keep engagements on track.
Utilize strong analytical, research, and critical‑thinking skills to assist with client business decisions.
Assist with PCS/firm contributions, including billing, recruiting, attendance, and participation in CPE activities and training.
Build and maintain relationships with BDO professionals and external sources.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervise associates and senior associates on all projects.
Review work prepared by associates and senior associates, providing commentary.
Train associates and seniors on current software tools.
Act as a career advisor to associates and senior associates.
Schedule and manage the workload of associates and senior associates.
Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates and senior associates.
Education
Bachelor's degree required; major in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics is preferred.
Master’s in Accountancy or Taxation is preferred.
Experience
Seven or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or law.
Experience in the private client service area.
Prior supervisory experience.
Experience in public accounting is preferred.
License/Certifications
Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Internal Revenue Service Enrolled Agent (EA), Attorney (admitted in the U.S.), or equivalent designations required.
Possession of other professional degrees or certifications applicable to the role is preferred.
Software
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Adobe Acrobat.
Experience with tax compliance process software (GoSystems, BNA Tax Planner, GoFileRoom, SurePrep) is preferred.
Experience with tax research tools (BNA Portfolio, CCH IntelliConnect, Checkpoint, Lexis NEXIS) is preferred.
