Responsibilities The Chair of the Finance Department leads and manages the department, maintaining an 80% academic and 20% administrative split. Responsibilities include working with faculty of all ranks, engaging external constituents, collaborating with the Dean’s Office and other department chairs, directing faculty recruitment and evaluation, fostering curriculum innovation, maintaining on‑campus presence, and ensuring fiscal and administrative accountability. The Chair directs the Helen R. Walton Endowed Chair of Finance and supports the department’s strategic vision as part of the Walton College Executive Committee.
Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Finance or a closely related field by the start of employment
Associate Professor rank or higher with tenure at an AACSB–accredited business school or college
Established record of research publication in leading peer‑reviewed journals
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Demonstrated collegiality and teamwork
Demonstrated desire to engage and collaborate with executive leadership of the college
Preferred Qualifications:
Research and teaching record suitable for tenure at the full professor level
Prior experience as department chair (or equivalent) showing competency in all administrative, budgetary, curricular and engagement activities
Proven record of securing external funds through fundraising, industry‑sponsored research, or grants
Evidence of developing innovative initiatives in academic programs, outreach, and/or administration
Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and innovation
Salary Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
