Perform nursing duties as directed and within the scope of the Nurse Practice Act, including administering medications and performing treatments as ordered by a physician. Administer injections, suppositories, enemas, and wound care medications, in addition to those typically assigned to Medication Technicians. Perform nursing duties associated with the Wellness Nurse role as assigned. Coordinate medication services with residents, pharmacy, and physician. Order and track all medication changes, refills, and deliveries with pharmacies. Prepare medication for distribution to residents per company policy. Assist residents with taking their prescribed medications. Observe and verify that medication is ingested or applied as directed; document any non‑administration and notify the supervisor. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential resident medication and care records per company policy. Keep medication rooms and carts orderly, clean, and adequately stocked; manage inventory and re‑order supplies as needed. Control medication room/cart access at all times. Monitor psychotropic medication use to confirm consistency with physician orders and resident behavioral needs. Participate in and complete narcotic counts at the start and end of each shift; report any discrepancies to the supervisor immediately. Communicate with physicians, family members, and vendors as required. Understand and correctly use common medical abbreviations, symbols, and terms related to medication administration. Qualifications
Licensed Vocational Nurse or Registered Nurse with a valid California nursing license in good standing. Prefer at least one year of experience administering medications at a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly (RCFE). Knowledge of or ability to learn the theory and practice of assisted living and dementia care. Ability to work with seniors and interact patiently with cognitively impaired individuals. Flexibility, adaptability, strong decision‑making in stressful situations, and the ability to prioritize tasks. Strong information processing skills; ability to follow written or oral instructions. Analytical and problem‑solving skills. Proficient in basic mathematics. Must pass a criminal background check and health screening tests, including physical and TB tests. Compliance with Oakmont Management Group’s health and safety requirements, including vaccination, daily screening, surveillance testing, and PPE usage as per regulatory guidelines.
