Prologis is seeking an ambitious and passionate VP of Grid Scale Storage Development – Americas to scale utility‑scale battery energy storage systems for sale and distributed generation battery storage systems as part of our DG IPP. The role requires strong experience with distributed battery energy storage systems (BESS), utility‑scale storage and solar projects from siting strategy to commercial operations, along with knowledge of wholesale energy markets and grid interconnections. The VP, Battery Storage Development is a senior leadership role responsible for originating, structuring, and preparing utility‑scale BESS projects for disposition, while maintaining strong alignment with corporate strategic, financial, regulatory, and reporting requirements. This person will also lead the integration of BESS technology with other product offerings including BTM solar + battery, VPPs and stand‑alone DG projects. Key Responsibilities

Develop front‑of‑the‑meter (FTM) distributed energy storage projects and utility‑scale energy storage projects from siting strategy, interconnections to project design and engineering, and support the origination, valuation, trading and optimization organizations to drive revenue growth through building a strong pipeline of energy storage projects across Prologis Americas footprint. Own grid interconnection filings to support the development portfolio, and lead acquisition/partnerships for interconnection queue positions through co‑developments. Manage interconnection filings in multiple ISOs/RTOs and with distribution utilities across Americas. Use Prologis’ market presence to source candidate assets and land banks; develop a prioritization framework that scores sites on grid value, interconnection viability, customer use cases, and real estate readiness. Partner closely with Real Estate, Capital Deployment, Leasing, Property Management, and Entitlements teams to identify and control sites within the Prologis portfolio suitable for standalone or hybrid BESS (e.g., land parcels, rooftops, parking/yard areas, and adjacent rights‑of‑way). Negotiate land leases for storage projects on both Prologis real‑estate platform and out of platform. Manage permitting process with assistance of internal/external teams. Lead responses to utility RFPs and support origination teams in negotiation of offtake agreements. Act as internal storage subject‑matter expert by helping team‑members across the broader Prologis energy and real‑estate organization as they are exposed to energy storage opportunities. Responsible for the necessary financial modelling to understand project economics. Manage contractual relationships and coordinate with legal, as needed, to assist with contract negotiations and to resolve programmatic needs/requirements. Follow energy storage regulatory frameworks and assess the impact of potential technology and regulatory changes on existing portfolio, contracts and new leads. Interface and develop strong working relationships with various regional internal and external partners to ensure the energy team brings value to our real‑estate business. Required

Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline like engineering, applied science, economics, or statistics. 10+ years of experience in renewable projects development (preferably battery specific), energy markets, energy trading, power contract negotiations, energy regulations, or renewable energy generation and battery storage technologies. 5+ years of experience leading, developing and mentoring a high‑performing team. Proven experience collaborating with real‑estate owners/operators or REITs on energy infrastructure at active industrial/commercial sites. Successful history developing renewable generation and/or standalone energy storage projects in competitive markets. Greenfield development experience from siting strategy through commercial operations. Substantial land lease and power purchase contract negotiation experience. Strong understanding of electricity market design, federal and state regulatory rules and incentives around energy storage, tariff structures, renewable energy, and renewable incentives. Strong understanding of Independent System Operator (ISO) setup, operations, and BESS participation in wholesale markets. Proven ability to evaluate new energy markets, utility tariffs, policies, power contracts, or evaluating new energy storage opportunities and technologies. Understanding of the interplay between system design, cost, project economics, financed pricing and ability to run and use financial models for battery storage systems. Familiarity with renewable credit programs, renewable project development, power forecasting and scheduling, portfolio management theory, advanced energy storage, or alternative energy resources. Experience building relationships and working with industry stakeholders, such as utilities, regional power planning agencies, renewable project developers, project investors, and renewable OEMs. Demonstrated ability to innovate and get creative to develop executable projects. A history of collaboration, problem solving and communication that drives overall team success. Able to travel up to 25% of the time. Hiring Salary Range of: $256,000 – 290,000. Salary and whole compensation package (bonus target and LTI) to be determined by the candidate’s location, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
