Senior Software Engineer – Melbourne, FL
Chenega Military, Intelligence & Operations Support (MIOS) is a small business that partners with large‑scale government operations by leveraging cutting‑edge technology. This role will provide software engineering support to the Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of Aviation (INL/A) to sustain national security and economic interests.
Responsibilities
Develop and support software, including applications, database integration, interfaces, and new functionality enhancements.
Coordinate cross‑functionally to ensure project mission objectives and compliance standards.
Resolve complex software‑related issues associated with mission‑critical government systems.
Support testing and deployment of new applications and features.
Work with project managers to capture web application requirements, timelines, and milestones.
Write code in an industry best practices manner consistent with FISMA guidelines.
Schedule maintenance windows to roll out new versions and features or fix bugs.
Participate in the full agile application development life cycle for new Java application development, construction, and testing.
Travel may be required for special projects (CONUS, OCONUS).
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or Associate’s degree with 2+ years of relevant experience.
4+ years of relevant experience.
Ability to obtain Secret Clearance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Experience in software development/engineering, including requirements analysis, installation, integration, testing, and maintenance.
Experience working on complex projects as a top‑level contributor or specialist.
Experience providing O&M support to complex, mission‑critical systems.
Experience troubleshooting and resolving complex user issues.
Technical writing skills; experience generating documentation for software projects.
Experience with Windows and Linux environments and fundamental system administration.
Experience with JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Agile methods, Scrum, XP, SharePoint, C#, ASP.NET, Angular.
Excellent communication skills to interface with customers, understand requirements, and translate them into actions.
Experience with WebLogic and Tomcat application servers; migrating J2EE applications from WebLogic to Tomcat.
Experience with Adobe ColdFusion applications.
Experience setting up CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with SQL Server and shell scripting.
Knowledge of cloud‑native principles and architectures.
Proficiency in containerization technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes.
Experience refactoring monolithic applications into a microservices architecture.
Familiarity with cloud‑native tools and services such as AWS ECS, EKS, Azure Kubernetes Service, GKE.
Experience with infrastructure as code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
