Medical Lab Scientist - Clinical Microbiology

Job Summary As a Medical Laboratory Scientist I, under general supervision, you will perform specimen processing, test performance, and reporting of waived and non‑waived test results in accordance with CLIA regulations.
Essential Functions
After successful completion of orientation, training, and competency assessment on all relevant instruments/methods, follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling, processing, test analyses, and reporting.
Maintain accurate records for sample testing and proficiency testing.
Adhere to quality control policies, document all quality control activities, calibrations, and maintenance.
Follow corrective action policies when results are outside acceptable performance limits.
Identify problems that could affect test performance or reporting and correct them or notify supervisory staff immediately.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from established performance specifications.
Qualifications Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Technology, or Laboratory Sciences.
Licenses and Credentials:
Medical Technologist (ASCP) – ASCP Board of Certification preferred.
Experience:
1–2 years of laboratory experience required.
Additional:
This role does not accept experience in lieu of a degree.

Basic understanding of laboratory equipment operation, maintenance, repair, and analytic techniques.
Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
Attention to detail and adherence to written protocols.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
Effective communication with physicians, hospital personnel, and patients.
