This permanent, full‑time position is based in Madison, WI and focuses on mechanical, optical, and electrical component assembly for optical microscopes used in life‑science imaging. You will collaborate closely with final system QA/QC and manufacturing engineering teams to deliver high‑quality products and subassemblies. Responsibilities Assemble and manufacture instrumentation, subassemblies, and precision components. Perform electrical/mechanical tests on assemblies and sub‑systems to ensure standards are met. Execute written SOPs and work instructions. Modify and fabricate parts using small hand tools and under a microscope (up to 40× magnification). Debug assemblies or systems in cooperation with the production team or engineering. Assist manufacturing engineering in altering/improving assembly instructions. Assist other departments as needed and directed by the supervisor. Ensure timely completion of assignments while meeting or exceeding quality standards. Accurately document work performed and maintain production records. Maintain a clean work environment. Qualifications Basic mechanical and electrical tool experience required. 2+ years of hands‑on electromechanical experience. Good mechanical and electronic aptitude; familiarity with hand/mechanical tools. Basic familiarity with a personal computer. Ability to read assembly drawings and build assemblies. Attention to detail and capability to follow precise instructions. Flexible and adaptable; willing to learn new processes as needed. Ability to lift 25–30 lbs regularly and 50 lbs occasionally. Additional Consideration Given For Experience with optical components (mirror and lens systems). Experience with small part assembly. Technician or related associate degree. Salary: The estimated base salary range for this full‑time position is $42,300 to $72,000 (paid through an hourly rate equivalent).
