Summary of Position The Senior Director, Center for Corporate Diplomacy works with the VP, Corporate Diplomacy to lead and oversee corporate engagement efforts within the Meridian Center for Corporate Diplomacy. This includes driving new revenue through business development efforts, developing and managing the Center’s budget and business plan, Corporate Council member engagement, program development, thought leadership and content creation, and relationship building with government and diplomatic stakeholders. This position is located in Washington D.C. and Meridian requires MD, DC, or VA residence for all employees.
Position Responsibilities
Oversees financial and programmatic aspects of the Meridian Center for Corporate Diplomacy.
Responsible for developing and achieving the Corporate Diplomacy Center’s business plan in coordination with the Vice President for Corporate Diplomacy and other Meridian staff, a program portfolio of about $4-5M, to include tailored convenings, international exchange programs, corporate diplomacy training, and more.
Leads a team of 1-2 staff; responsible for hiring, retention, training and professional development opportunities for the team.
Leads and manages new business development efforts in assigned sectors within the team.
Creatively develops new program concepts and curricula that can be pitched to potential funders or responses to funders goals.
Effectively articulates and markets Meridian’s value proposition to potential funders.
Contribute to thought leadership development – through publishing or speaking engagements.
Manage and steward a portfolio of high-level corporate donors with specific annual goals and objectives, communicating and engaging regularly (through in person meetings/calls/emails) to ensure continued financial support and partnership.
Oversees the design and execution of corporate events as needed by identifying and confirming high level speakers and relevant topical themes to the corporate community, building an audience of interested stakeholders, etc.
Provides leadership on special event fundraising, with a focus on developing support outside of existing membership.
Directs corporate-related communications content, including developing content, e-newsletters, digital/social media content.
Forge and maintain relationships with key strategic players in the private sector/CSR community, to position Meridian as a significant presence in the Washington economic diplomacy landscape.
Responsible for capturing and recording development activities in Salesforce, and for ensuring that team members are inputting data in accordance with organizational standards.
Responsible for completing all organizational administrative responsibilities in a timely manner and meeting all organizational administrative deadlines.
Other duties as assigned.
