Position Overview The Maintenance Lead will report directly to the Director of Maintenance. This role is responsible for the hands‑on execution, management, and coordination of maintenance for a fleet of commercial passenger vehicles. The Maintenance Lead will own the scheduling and review of all vehicle maintenance with in‑house and 3rd‑party maintenance providers, while actively performing repairs and reviewing all repair details and costs. Responsibilities also include controlling roadside response efforts and overseeing all regulatory compliance inspections for the organization’s fleet.
Duties and Responsibilities
Diagnose malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs (e.g. adjust/test steering, electrical, cooling, lubricating, braking systems, drive trains, suspensions, power steering units, clutches, transmissions, oil, temperature, gas regulating components, engine rebuilds, etc.) and related assigned duties within qualification level, in accordance with all relevant Federal, State/Provincial and local guidelines and requirements.
Oversee and comply with local WeDriveU maintenance and safety SOPs, locally applicable public authority legislation, regulation and standards, ensuring that maintenance staff follow them.
Utilize and oversee the local use of WeDriveU EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) ERP application by maintenance facility staff to accurately record and track maintenance work orders and parts inventory.
Manage preventive maintenance and “unscheduled” repairs for the vehicles serviced by this facility.
Represent the maintenance activity at the local level in its interaction, communication and coordination of activities with other local operations functions: driver care, route operations, and customer care.
Supervise the maintenance staff.
Skills Required and Physical Demands
Experience with compliance with the local applicable DOT compliance of Med / Heavy Trucks.
Prefer ASE Certification as a Master Automotive Technician and/or a Master Truck Technician.
G‑Suite experience a plus.
Experience with EV vehicles, as well as propane engine diagnostics and troubleshooting (strongly preferred).
Strong electronic filing, documentation tracking and organizational skills.
Attention to detail and consistent formatting.
Self‑motivated and driven problem solver.
Multiple years of experience in transportation, with a strong preference for passenger transportation history.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Work experience with mechanical background and aptitude.
Education and Qualifications Hard Requirements
5 years’ experience with fleet management company.
Diesel Engine Repair experience.
5 years of experience in Cummins Engine Repair.
CDL B w/ Passenger and Airbrake Endorsements required.
Preferred Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, Finance, Logistics, and/or Transportation.
