Business Data Analyst
Location: Austin, TX. Duration: 10 months.
Key Responsibilities
Translating complex business needs into clear, actionable requirements.
Writing epics and user stories, including acceptance criteria, to effectively communicate functional and non‑functional requirements to development and quality assurance teams.
Collaborating closely with business stakeholders, product owners, and technical teams to ensure alignment between business objectives and system capabilities.
Documenting current state processes and proactively identifying opportunities for process and system improvements.
Facilitating workshops, gathering information, and presenting findings to diverse audiences.
Required Skills & Qualifications
10+ years of hands‑on experience as a business data analyst in the IT industry, demonstrating strong analytical and documentation skills.
10+ years of proven ability to collaborate with technical and non‑technical teams to analyze complex data‑driven business problems and recommend actionable solutions.
10+ years of experience designing and optimizing data workflows and data management processes using modeling or mapping tools.
10+ years of experience well‑versed in writing epics and user stories, including acceptance criteria.
8+ years of experience creating and maintaining data‑related documentation including data dictionaries, business requirements documents, and data mapping specifications.
8+ years of experience designing and presenting visual data models and dashboards.
8+ years of demonstrated ability to lead data‑focused meetings and interviews, document outcomes, and drive resolution of data‑related issues.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
4+ years of bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, information systems, business analytics, or related field (equivalent experience may be substituted).
4+ years of strong multi‑tasking skills with the ability to manage multiple data projects concurrently.
3+ years of working knowledge of eligibility rules for SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF programs, with experience interpreting and applying state and federal guidelines.
3+ years of proven experience interpreting and applying policy within an integrated eligibility case management system.
