KBR is seeking a Mission Engineer (ME) to support a Range Operations Contract (ROC) project team that provides technical launch services for Sounding Rocket missions from WFF, Norway, Alaska, and other locations. The ME oversees project requirements review and analysis, planning, scheduling, risk management, design, testing, execution, and closeout. The ME manages multiple launch missions, providing technical inputs for mission build‑up, range instrumentation configuration, test plans, and launch execution.

Primary Duties And Responsibilities

Responsible for technical/operational leadership of a small, routine project/mission within programmatic guidelines set by the program manager and customer.

Defines, generates, and reviews project requirements documentation.

Performs standard technical studies to refine project requirements; monitors project to ensure scope, schedule, and budget remain well defined and maintained.

Coordinates with resource managers/supervisors and ensures all necessary reviews and approvals are received.

May conduct basic performance/project analysis during phase‑down to benefit future projects/missions/programs.

Technical Skills

Systems Engineering per NASA standards.

Integration and Testing per NASA standards.

Support complex and/or technologically challenging tasks, including leading the generation of Test Plans and Telemetry and radar support requirements.

Develops, maintains, and reports technical performance metrics effectively measuring the level of performance in execution of launch missions.

Managerial Skills

Technical liaison with government and customer technical personnel of the mission.

Technical lead for providing range support to assigned launch missions, supporting a matrixed team and Task Lead.

Manages technical & engineering interfaces, identifies and documents compliance and risk items, and collects lessons learned.

Ensures technical support to customers, providing technical consultation and advice to Task Leads regarding design issues, development and test approaches, and test result assessments.

Experience in launch, aerospace, or space range operations.

Fundamental knowledge of telemetry principles, data acquisition, radar, and command antenna systems – a plus.

Reports technical status to stakeholders as appropriate.

Security Clearance:

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.

Travel:

Up to 10% of the year.

Education And Experience

Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent; Mid‑Level position into Project Engineering preferred with a minimum of 5 years engineering or related launch range experience.
