Job Description Budget Title: Instructional Support Associate (SL-2)
Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience
The primary role of the Operations & Infrastructure Technician is to provide support for the Binghamton University technical infrastructure. This includes:
Provide network, telephony, and physical security (camera, door, and CCTV) support to the campus' remote sites
Provide operational support for ITS‑managed spaces on the Health Sciences Campus and at remote sites, including campus IDFs and data center facilities
Troubleshoot and repair networking hardware and Ethernet connections
Troubleshoot and repair telephony hardware
Troubleshoot and repair card access and key box hardware
Assist with the installation, documentation, and maintenance of IDF UPS battery backup devices
Assist with the configuration, installation, cabling, and documentation of infrastructure hardware
Assist with ongoing infrastructure maintenance (i.e. hardware and firmware upgrades) across the enterprise network infrastructure at Binghamton University
Handle RMA duties for infrastructure equipment as required
Requirements
Associate's Degree (or higher)
At least 1 year of experience working in an Information Technology role
At least 1 year of hands‑on experience in working with enterprise infrastructure equipment such as IP cameras, door access equipment, VoIP phones, or network switches
At least 1 year of customer service‑related experience
Availability for occasional after‑hours support (post 5 p.m.) and early morning maintenance (before 8 a.m.)
Ability to bend, lift, and carry at least 30 pounds, and be able to work comfortably in closet‑type spaces
Valid Driver's License to operate a vehicle in New York State
Preferred
Experience working with fiber optic‑based network connections
Experience working with Ethernet
