Electrical Designer/Engineer

Your work environment at EXP In this role, you will join the

Electrical team

working on

Science, Technology, and Healthcare MEP projects

in the San Diego office.

What a day at EXP has in store for you

Lead and mentor Designer level staff in technical and non-technical skills.

QC your work and the work of Designer level staff (drawings, RFI answers, submittal reviews).

Collaborate with Sr. Engineer to determine drawing and specification content to meet project scope.

Edit EXP master specifications as needed under Sr. Engineer oversight.

Travel to project sites to review work progress and document findings via written reports.

Solve problems within time and budget constraints.

Assist in developing and monitoring Electrical work plans.

Possess general knowledge of NEC, applicable codes, and standards, and incorporate them into designs.

Assist Sr. Engineer in writing studies and reports on electrical systems.

Contribute to complex electrical designs with conflicting requirements or difficult coordination.

Help revise company design standards and master specifications.

Understand sector-specific design requirements and approaches.

Evaluate value engineering opportunities considering EXP’s risk levels.

Implement Basis of Design narratives into DD and CD drawings.

Apply lighting, photometrics, and lighting controls knowledge into designs and specifications.

Perform field verification and take-offs for renovation projects with minimal assistance.

Participate in meetings with contractors during bid phases to review design details.

Assist in evaluating contractor pricing and estimates.

Present technical information internally to coworkers effectively.

Engage in voluntary training opportunities such as vendor lunch and learns.

Contribute positively to EXP and local office culture.

What your experience looks like

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in design related to Healthcare, Correctional, Critical Facilities, Life Sciences, R&D, Pharmaceutical, or similar projects.

Engineering Degree (BS Architectural Engineering, BS Electrical Engineering, or equivalent).

Proficiency in Revit MEP.

EIT or PE certification preferred.

Ability to travel locally.

The pay range for this role is $90,000-$126,000. Actual compensation depends on factors such as skills, experience, certifications, and location. Compensation may vary in different regions due to labor costs.
