Overview Heavy Equipment Operator at Windwave Communications. The heavy equipment operator’s primary responsibility is the safe and efficient operation of heavy equipment for various applications including commercial excavation, earth moving, site preparation, and utility projects. It is preferred that operators have experience with many types of equipment and a versatile skill set. Must be able to exercise independent judgment as to work methods, tools, and equipment. This position may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Responsibilities Complete assigned tasks while ensuring quality and productivity, maintaining high standards.
Demonstrate knowledge of construction and safety measures.
Daily check fluids, wear parts, tires, glass, and overall condition of machinery; report issues and maintenance required immediately.
Adapt to changing environment including traffic, soil conditions, and weather.
Manage material efficiently—excavating, loading haul vehicles, placing materials, fine grading, or installing utilities.
Operate a range of machines (e.g., excavators, dozers, compactors, haul trucks, tractors, graders).
Perform manual labor as needed on the job site.
Plan and layout jobs from start to finish to meet or exceed deadlines.
Communicate effectively with your supervisor, the office, and crews.
Act as a team player and interact with staff at all levels.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of company policies, procedures, products, and services; machine-specific knowledge.
Earthwork and grading experience; operate machinery for mass earthwork, loading, placing materials, compacting, moisture conditioning, and fine grading.
Safe operation of each machine and maintaining situational awareness.
Recognize mechanical issues and take action to shut down and secure the machine to avoid damage.
High attention to detail; strong work ethic and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Effective and professional communication with a diverse group of individuals.
Ability to load and unload building materials, tools, and equipment.

Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent.
Operates one or more of the following equipment proficiently: excavator, dozer, blade, scraper.
Driver's license with clean driving record; CDL preferred.
Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.

Experience Heavy equipment operation: 3 years (Required).
License/Certification Driver's license with acceptable driving record (Required).
CDL (Preferred).
