Heavy Equipment Operator (Mountain Region) ENTACT, LLC is hiring for the Heavy Equipment Operator (Mountain Region) role. This position is responsible for performing various tasks on hazardous and non-hazardous waste sites in the western mountain region of the United States (NM to CO). Work on hazardous waste sites may involve exposure to lead, PCBs, H2S, arsenic, and various other metals and chemicals. Heavy equipment operation is a skilled trade involving the operation of excavators (and attachments such as shears, impact hammers, thumbs, etc.), loaders, dozers, backhoes, dump trucks, articulating dump trucks, tractors, motor graders, scrapers, water trucks, etc., to excavate, grade, or move earth or to demolish structures. May repair and maintain equipment in addition to regular duties. Typical workdays are > 8 hrs/day, 5–6 days per week. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability, sick pay per state law, and 401(k). Candidates must be open to sustained project-based travel within the US. Project locations will vary depending on assignment. Candidates may reside anywhere within the US. Essential Job Functions Excavate, move, or grade contaminated or non-contaminated earth and materials Demolish structures including buildings, aboveground storage tanks, pipelines, etc. Mix reagents with contaminated soil or hazardous waste Read and understand construction specifications, construction plans, and operating procedures Cut and fill grades per plan specifications Load materials into trucks for removal from site Load and unload trucks for onsite transport of materials Haul material to on-site unloading areas Perform daily inspection and basic maintenance on assigned equipment Move materials, lay pipe, backfill as required Load/unload equipment from trailers Lift and set heavy loads Assist with preparation and review of Job Safety Analyses and other reports Promote the use of Stop Work Authority Work independently or as part of a team; meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high-quality culture Physical and Visual Activities Required Perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, handling, balancing, walking, stooping, and squatting Use hands, arms, feet, and legs; maintain three points of contact when climbing machinery Hear and understand directions; read and interpret related documents Physical Demands Sitting for long periods in moving or stationary machinery Climbing ladders and maintaining three points of contact Repetitive motion from operating controls Lifting objects up to 50 lbs as required Working in loud environments Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions Outside construction site; rugged terrain Dusty and windy conditions; confined spaces Potential airborne exposures within OSHA limits Personal Protective Equipment May require PPE such as hard hat, hearing protection, eye protection, safety vest, gloves, safety boots, and respirators as site conditions require. Qualifications Knowledge: Safe operation of heavy equipment (backhoe, bulldozer, excavator, etc.) and understanding of their uses and limitations Experience: 3–5 years operating heavy equipment, preferably in environmental remediation Education: High school diploma or equivalent Machines/Tools: Rubber-tired or tracked heavy equipment (backhoes, loaders, dozers, excavators, etc.) and related machinery Licenses/Certifications: OSHA HAZWOPER training including an annual 8-hour refresher Seniority level Mid-Senior level Employment type Full-time Job function Management and Manufacturing #J-18808-Ljbffr
