Location:
San Diego, CA – Rancho Carmel Campus (on‑site, full‑time, 2nd shift). The role may also support the Spectrum campus as needed.

DoD Secret clearance required (must be obtainable and maintained). U.S. citizenship required.

About the Job As a Hardware Engineer in Northrop Grumman’s San Diego Operations Test Engineering Department, you support the Communications Systems (CS) and Secure Processing & Networking (SPAN) Business Units within the Networked Information Solutions (NIS) Division. You’ll design, develop, and implement testing methods, troubleshoot RF and digital hardware, and collaborate with design engineering to improve hardware solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design, develop, and implement testing methods and equipment.
Troubleshoot and support RF and digital hardware.
Support First‑Time‑Through Test Yield (FTTTY) and hardware deliveries.
Analyze test data and identify early trends.
Compile data and define required changes in testing equipment, procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements.
Collaborate with design engineering to develop and implement hardware improvements and solutions.
Support technicians through troubleshooting and training.
Monitor product yields and work aggressively to maintain program yield targets.
Support program meetings to develop root‑cause analyses and corrective actions.
Attend program meetings to report yield issues and findings.
Interface with manufacturing management, test technicians, production engineers, design engineers, system engineers, program management, and program support teams.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field plus 2+ years of relevant experience; or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related STEM field plus no required experience.
Experience reading and interpreting specifications, schematics, and block diagrams.
Experience with RF test equipment (oscilloscope, power meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generators).
Experience with RF/Digital hardware and software.
Basic experience with VHDL concepts and programming.
Hands‑on troubleshooting of electrical/electro‑mechanical hardware.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications
U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
Experience with FPGAs, advanced VHDL programming, and troubleshooting techniques.
Education background in Electrical or Software Engineering.
Familiarity with Manufacturing Operations.
Experience with Agile processes.
LABVIEW or TestStand experience.

$83,400.00 to $125,200.00 , with additional compensation such as overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonuses, and potential long‑term incentives.
