Overview WANTED: A Deputy Chief Engineer with demonstrated experience in digital engineering and working within DoW programs. Desired experience in systems analysis, test and evaluation, and working with new technology and innovative efforts. Leadership experience required to assist management of an energetic staff of engineers during a dynamic period at DoW.
Responsibilities
Work to evaluate and secure cutting-edge technology and engineering capabilities to facilitate MDAP development and modernization efforts; focus engineering techniques on R&E/DTE&A processes and products; maximize value of program and service digital artifacts to R&E.
Drive digital engineering innovations and best practices into acquisition programs and DoW policy. Use innovative techniques to accelerate the acquisition lifecycle.
Regularly interface with other OSD elements, service offices, test activities, MDAP Chief Engineers, and industry experts.
Manage and work with a team of driven, supportive and highly skilled professionals.

Provide strategic views of the DTE&A organization, mission, and initiatives to the Director, DTE&A and Chief Engineer.
Provide Systems Engineering and Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) expertise/knowledge in support of Major Defense Acquisition Programs (MDAP) and OSD policy.
Oversee the DTE&A’s staff in conducting systems engineering analysis of PRS and CDRs; and conducting Independent Technical Risk Assessments and program management of MDAP programs.
Apply your digital engineering expertise to understanding and exploiting digital artifacts produced by programs, services, stakeholders, vendors, and other organizations in completing R&E/DTE&A products.
Help drive the team by assisting management of the Chief Engineer’s staff of highly qualified systems engineers, specialty engineers and analyst in evaluating tests results, schedules, resources, and technological risks for program reviews.
Work independently when required; bring focus and energy to completing key tasks supporting DTE&A.
Review R&E/DTE&A’s papers, reports, and briefings targeted to Senior OSD decision makers.
Familiarization with modern AI systems and techniques; deeper AI experience desired.
Generate quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.
Ensure requirements comply with warfighter requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
Participate in program design reviews (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
Review test plans/procedures (TEMPs) and ensure they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and warfighter needs; review and document the testing process to validate requirements and performance.
Qualifications
Masters Degree and 12-15 years proven experience; DoW experience highly desired.
Proven expertise in digital engineering process and tools (e.g. CAMEO, SysML, AI Tools, mod&sim tools, etc.)
Pay Transparency Statement AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $129,800.00/Yr. - USD $216,700.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
