The Senior Director, Clinical Applications leads the strategy, delivery, and lifecycle management of all clinical and imaging applications supporting patient care, radiologist workflow, and operational efficiency across the enterprise. This includes oversight of PACS, RIS, EMR/EHR integrations, mammography CAD/AI tools, scheduling systems, and related interoperability platforms used across diagnostic centers.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in healthcare IT operations, clinical workflow optimization, and vendor management within imaging or women’s health domains. This role ensures that clinical systems deliver high reliability, usability, and compliance, enabling physicians and technologists to focus on patient care.

Here Is What You Will Need
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or related field required.
Master’s degree in Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare IT with at least 5 years managing clinical or imaging applications in a multi‑site diagnostic or radiology organization.
Proven success leading PACS/RIS modernization, cloud migration, or AI integration projects.
Strong understanding of radiology workflows, DICOM, HL7, FHIR, and integration standards.
Experience with one or more of: Sectra, GE PACS, Hologic, Epic Radiant, Merge, Change Healthcare, Intelerad, or Mach7.
Familiarity with AI‑assisted mammography and breast imaging CAD tools is highly desirable.
Solid understanding of clinical data governance, cybersecurity, and regulatory frameworks.
Demonstrated ability to translate clinical needs into scalable technology solutions.
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills—comfortable interfacing with radiologists, executives, and field staff.
Strong project management discipline and change leadership capabilities.
Strategic mindset with a hands‑on operational approach.
A Day in the Life of a Sr. Director of Clinical Applications
Strategic Leadership
Develop and execute a clinical applications roadmap aligned with enterprise growth, digital transformation, and imaging innovation goals.
Partner with the CIO, CMIO, radiology leadership, and Operations to ensure applications meet clinical and business needs.
Identify opportunities to leverage AI, cloud imaging, and analytics to enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient experience.
Operational Management
Lead end‑to‑end management of all clinical applications including PACS, RIS, DICOM routers, mammography CAD/AI tools, modality worklist systems, voice dictation, and HL7 interfaces.
Ensure high system availability, data integrity, and workflow continuity across all clinical sites and radiologist reading environments.
Drive incident management, problem resolution, and continuous improvement of clinical workflows.
Establish governance and change control processes for clinical system updates, integrations, and releases.
Team Leadership
Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of application analysts, integration specialists, and vendor partners.
Foster a collaborative environment that blends clinical insight, technical expertise, and user empathy.
Develop training and adoption programs for technologists, radiologists, and administrative staff.
Vendor and Project Oversight
Serve as primary executive liaison to key vendors (PACS, RIS, EMR, AI, modality OEMs, etc.).
Oversee contract negotiations, service‑level agreements, and vendor performance.
Lead or sponsor major implementations, upgrades, and integrations, ensuring minimal disruption to clinical operations.
Governance, Compliance & Security
Ensure all systems comply with HIPAA, FDA, and ACR guidelines, and internal cybersecurity policies.
Partner with Information Security and Compliance teams to maintain secure, auditable data flows.
Support accreditation, audit, and quality improvement efforts through accurate data reporting and traceability.
