Quality Engineer – Role Description This is a full‑time on‑site role for a
Quality Engineer , based in the San Francisco Bay Area. The position is ideal for candidates with strong attention to detail and technical expertise in quality assurance, manufacturing processes, and compliance systems within highly regulated or precision‑engineering industries.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining Hadron Energy’s quality systems to ensure product integrity, reliability, and compliance with
ASME, ISO, and NQA-1
standards. This individual will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and regulatory teams to establish inspection protocols, corrective actions, and quality control documentation across the company’s micro modular reactor development and production programs.
You will play a critical role in embedding a culture of excellence and compliance across Hadron’s organization to support both first‑of‑a‑kind (FOAK) reactor development and scalable manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain quality management systems (QMS) in compliance with
ASME NQA‑1 ,
ISO 9001 , and applicable NRC/DOE standards
Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to define quality plans, inspection requirements, and acceptance criteria for critical components and assemblies
Conduct root cause analyses (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for nonconformances
Manage supplier quality audits, qualifications, and ongoing performance monitoring
Prepare and maintain quality documentation including procedures, inspection reports, and test records
Lead first article inspections (FAI) and support verification testing during prototype and production phases
Support internal and external audits, including NRC, DOE, and customer reviews
Work with procurement and engineering to ensure suppliers meet design and quality requirements
Develop and analyze quality metrics to identify trends and continuous improvement opportunities
Support training and awareness programs to maintain compliance and promote quality culture across all departments
Qualifications & Skillsets
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Quality Engineering (Master’s preferred)
5+ years of experience in quality assurance, manufacturing quality, or supplier quality engineering, preferably within nuclear, aerospace, defense, or energy industries
Strong understanding of ASME, ISO 9001, and NQA‑1 quality standards
Experience with non‑destructive examination (NDE/NDT), inspection techniques, and testing protocols
Familiarity with welding, machining, fabrication, and component verification processes
Proficiency with quality tools and methodologies (FMEA, SPC, MSA, Six Sigma, 8D, PDCA)
Experience conducting audits and maintaining documentation for regulatory or certification purposes
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Proficiency with ERP/MES and QMS software (SAP, NetSuite, MasterControl, or similar)
Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary technical teams
Passion for precision, safety, and enabling clean energy innovation through world‑class quality standards
