Healthcare Executive Placements, Inc. (HCEPInc) is seeking an Interim NICU Nurse Manager, for a W2 Contract position based in Downey, CA.

Schedule: Full time, Night shift, Monday through Friday, 5 8's – 11:00 pm – 7:30 am

Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks with high likelihood of extending

Compensation: This position offers a daily rate of $700 to $715 which equates to $3,500 to $3,575 per week (based on a 5-day workweek). Per Diems: Lodging: $191 per day and Meals & Incidentals: $86 per day. Per diems are paid daily, 7 days a week, totaling $1,939 per week. Auto Stipend: $25 per day. Stipend is paid daily, 7 days a week, totaling $175 per week.

Total Weekly Compensation (Daily Rate + Per Diems + Stipend):

Between $5,614 to $5,689 per week

Summary: The Nurse Manager for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) provides leadership and oversight for all aspects of patient care delivery within a high-acuity neonatal environment. This role ensures safe, high-quality, family-centered care while guiding clinical staff, managing daily operations, and supporting continuous quality and performance improvement. The Manager collaborates closely with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to create a supportive culture, maintain regulatory compliance, and advance professional nursing practice.

Essential Functions:

Providing leadership for NICU operations and ensuring consistent, high-quality patient care.

Developing, implementing, and maintaining patient care and service standards in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.

Supporting strategic planning efforts and partnering with nursing and organizational leaders to advance neonatal services across the continuum of care.

Overseeing workforce planning, staffing models, scheduling, resource utilization, and equipment/supply needs.

Managing operational budgets, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.

Leading quality, safety, and performance improvement initiatives and maintaining compliance with all applicable regulatory, accreditation, and professional standards.

Recruiting, onboarding, developing, and evaluating staff; providing coaching and performance guidance; and cultivating a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Partnering with physicians, outside providers, and internal departments to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care.

Addressing patient, family, or staff concerns with professionalism and promoting an environment of trust, support, and accountability.

Ensuring departmental readiness for emergency situations, continuity of operations, and required staff training and preparedness activities.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Experience in lieu of degree will be considered.

Active CA RN License required.

Five or more years of specialty clinical experience, with a minimum of two years serving in a leadership or management position.

NRP and BLS Certifications required.

PALS Certification preferred.
