We're looking for a skilled Medical Technologist ready to perform complex clinical laboratory testing while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and quality. ***This position is contingent upon contract award and will be located onsite in either the southeast, southwest, or central United States. Travel will likely be required.***
About You You're scientifically minded and methodical. You understand that laboratory protocols aren't just guidelines—they're essential frameworks for ensuring reliable, reproducible results that healthcare providers depend on. You're adaptable and resourceful. You can troubleshoot technical issues effectively and maintain quality standards even under pressure or with evolving priorities. You're committed to continuous improvement. You stay current with advances in laboratory medicine and are dedicated to refining your technical expertise and knowledge. Things You Will Do Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriological tests with precision and accuracy. Examine and analyze body fluids and cells, and match blood for transfusions according to AABB requirements. Analyze chemical content of fluids and test for drug levels in the blood using sophisticated instrumentation and methodologies. Prepare specimens, count cells, and identify abnormal cells in blood and body fluids. Make cultures of body fluid and tissue samples to determine the presence of bacteria, fungi, parasites, or other microorganisms. Analyze test results and communicate them clearly to physicians to support clinical decision-making. Evaluate test results, develop and modify procedures, and establish monitoring programs to ensure laboratory testing accuracy. Maintain inventory by ordering and stocking supplies as needed while ensuring cost-effectiveness. Create and maintain a safe laboratory environment by adhering to universal safety precautions and protecting against biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens. Collaborate with healthcare teams to provide integrated patient care and support.
Qualifications Bachelor's Degree from a formal Medical Technology training program. Certification by American Medical Technologist (AMT), American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), or the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel, Inc. (NCA). Current BLS certification. Minimum of five (5) years' experience as a Medical Technologist. Recent clinical experience with at least 6 months of direct patient care within the last 12 months. Strong multitasking abilities, detail-oriented, organizational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication. Proficiency with computer systems, common office equipment, and MS Office products. Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements, including potential shift changes based on operational needs and command priorities. Proven problem-solving skills to research and resolve inquiries promptly. Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is a plus.
Physical Requirements Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment. Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
