The Global Supply Manager (GSM) is Apple’s representative in strategic planning, negotiating, drafting, administering, and managing the full range of commercial and development contracts including documentation / execution associated with Data Center Construction and Equipment projects throughout Apple’s Global Owned and Operated Data Centers. They will support the category strategy, supplier identification, supplier selection, construction activities and cost management, including change orders. This GSM will work closely with Places management and executive level client groups, consultants and suppliers as well as internal Finance, Risk and Legal Departments resulting in strategic supplier relationships that achieve cost-effective, timely, and efficient procurement decisions to ensure support of Places overall business plan objectives.
Description
Sourcing and vetting qualified consultant, contractor and subcontractor candidates
Effective utilization of RFI (Request for Information), RFP (Request for Proposal), and RFQ (Request for Quote) techniques to identify, select, and engage with suppliers to ensure competitive market advantage
Directly implement supplier-sourcing strategies to ensure high quality, on time delivery and cost competitiveness
Supplier cost control and documentation across different construction disciplines and equipment types
Manage and report on contract use, status, value, risk
Partner with the internal business client in defining scope, schedule, budget
Excellent technical, organizational and communication skills, and documented experience in procurement for mid to large scale construction projects
Ability to create strategic category plan optimizing both spend and timing while contemplating lead times and other potential impacts
Understanding of basic accounting principles and excellent spreadsheet and math skills
Implement proactive procurement philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures, and systems in order to leverage spend and reduce costs
Maintain perspective and confidence in face of difficult contract negotiations, exceptionally tight deadlines and client expectations
Strong negotiation experience, knowledge of standard procurement practices, knowledge of contracts, diplomacy, and strong ability to work cross-functionally and lead project teams
Comprehensive knowledge of the General Contractor, Sub-Contractor engagements along with labor and equipment drivers
Lead all aspects of supplier negotiations, including contract terms, pricing, and performance management
Produce deliverables which consistently aid in: effective decision making, maximized buying power, enhanced communications, increased supplier accountability, understanding of marketplace, securing management support for project scopes, budgets and goals
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS degree plus 5-10 years experience or MA/MS/MBA degree plus 5-7 years experience, or equivalent.
Contract negotiation experience required
Preferred Qualifications
Masters degree or MBA preferred
Experience working in Supply Chain, Operations, or a related field
A tenacity, passion and demonstrated skill in negotiations
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Superb communication and interpersonal skills
Can build, grow and develop key cross-functional relationships to be able to influence and drive projects
Ability to operate independently and lead without authority
Ability to make quick decisions and solve complex problems with 80% information
Experience in supplier management and operations
Ability to identify and solve complex supply chain issues
Demonstrated experience in driving autonomous decisions
Presenting and leading Executive communications
End to end ownership of contract negotiations for both commercial and legal aspects a plus
Direct experience in long-term capacity planning a plus
Candidates must maintain a working knowledge of standards, codes, and regulations pertaining to the construction of facilities, knowledge of architectural documentation including shop drawings, construction scheduling and the overall construction process.
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $157,200 and $236,700, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
