Description We are looking for an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Device Selection team, which builds and scales the foundation that determines which Siri devices interact with the user and how their requests are routed and driven across iOS, tvOS and watchOS devices in our ecosystem. This team’s work is central to delivering seamless, intelligent, and performant user experiences across a wide range of devices. As the manager of the team, you will drive technical direction, grow and mentor engineers, and partner closely with product, architecture, and cross‑functional platform teams. This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of deep technical systems challenges and people leadership.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a high‑performing team of engineers building the device selection platform.

Define and deliver the technical roadmap, balancing short‑term reliability and latency goals with long‑term architectural investments.

Partner with Siri product, architecture leaders & other SWE teams to align device selection with business priorities and user experience goals.

Partner with Network and Reliability teams across SWE to align on architecture, improve resilience, and optimize system performance.

Establish engineering best practices, ensuring code quality, observability, and resilience in distributed systems.

Mentor and coach engineers to expand their technical breadth and leadership capabilities.

Drive collaboration across multiple platform and experience teams to ensure seamless integrations.

Contribute to org‑wide initiatives around platform reliability, performance, and scale

Minimum Qualifications

Proven experience building and scaling on‑device platform or frameworks.

Experience building platform/frameworks utilizing solid networking stack is a huge plus

Strong understanding of latency, reliability, and performance tradeoffs in system design.

Track record of managing technical roadmaps and delivering complex cross‑functional projects.

Preferred Qualifications

6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in an engineering management role.

Excellent people leadership skills, with experience mentoring and growing engineers.

Strong communication skills; able to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.

At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $228,100 and $342,800, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
