Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator with a focus on commercial solar projects to join our Seattle team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical estimating, solar PV systems, and project cost analysis. This role will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates, supporting project planning, and collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities
Review and interpret electrical drawings, plans, and specifications for commercial solar projects.
Prepare detailed material and labor cost estimates for electrical scopes of work.
Perform electrical takeoffs, including conduit, wire, switchgear, inverters, and balance‑of‑system components.
Evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes and incorporate into total project estimates.
Identify risks, value‑engineer designs, and provide cost‑effective solutions.
Collaborate with sales, project management, and engineering teams to support proposals and project planning.
Maintain accurate historical data and cost databases for estimating future projects.
Ensure compliance with NEC, local electrical codes, and safety standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of experience in electrical estimating, preferably in commercial solar or renewable energy projects.
Proficient in reading electrical blueprints, single‑line diagrams, and project specifications.
Strong knowledge of NEC and Washington State electrical codes.
Experience with estimating software.
Solid understanding of commercial solar PV systems, inverters, racking, and electrical balance‑of‑system components.
Excellent math, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
Effective communication and collaboration skills with cross‑functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
Experience with utility interconnection processes.
Familiarity with Seattle permitting processes and local utility requirements.
