Director of Transportation / Deputy Practice Leader - Houston, TX
Halff is seeking a Director of Transportation / Deputy Practice Leader with a Texas Professional Engineer License to support and provide leadership in the Houston, Texas transportation market. The role focuses on strategy and growth with TxDOT Houston District and other transportation clients in the Greater‑Houston region. The selected individual will be responsible for the growth and success of transportation planning, design, and related services within the region, including business development, client relationships, and project delivery. What you will do:
Providing strong leadership and guidance in the transportation practice, overseeing technical expertise in the region.
Researching markets, developing and maintaining client relationships, and identifying business opportunities.
Creating and executing strategic plans and guiding practice growth.
Leading strategic pursuits and capture planning for specific opportunities.
Working closely with operations staff to identify, hire, develop, and grow key staff and resources, ensuring successful project delivery.
Working closely with Halff's national Transportation Practice to implement best practices and leverage firm-wide resources.
What you will need:
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering or an ABET accredited equivalent Engineering degree.
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience.
Professional Engineering (PE) License in the State of Texas.
Established leadership and expertise in the industry.
Strong client connections, particularly TxDOT relationships at senior levels.
Positive attitude, self‑directed yet a team player, with a focus on integrity and quality.
