Open Rank Tenure Track Professor in Technology and Health Northeastern University invites applications for tenure‑track faculty positions in technology and health, beginning in the academic year 2026‑27. The position will be located at Northeastern University’s campus in Charlotte, NC. Successful candidates will conduct a research program focused on health behaviors and/or health‑related outcomes at the individual and/or population level, with a technology component that may include artificial intelligence methods, health data forecasting, health informatics, or digital health. Candidates with a digital health focus may develop tools or work collaboratively in research teams to develop and/or test digital health tools for assessment or intervention. Candidates at any rank are encouraged to apply; expectations will be commensurate with the applicant’s experience.

About the Opportunity Successful candidates will be appointed primarily in the Department of Public Health and Health Sciences in the Bouve College of Health Sciences. Cross‑disciplinary research programs and appointments are strongly encouraged. Secondary appointments in the Khoury College of Computer Sciences or the College of Science are possible, depending on research and/or teaching focus. Faculty members will be encouraged to develop cross‑disciplinary collaborations across Northeastern’s Global University System and with University‑wide initiatives such as the Network Science Institute and the Institute for Experiential AI.

Responsibilities

Develop an independent research program that attracts external funding.

Teach graduate and undergraduate courses.

Mentor students and postdocs in the research area.

Participate in service to the department, university, and discipline.

Qualifications

PhD (or equivalent) in Applied Mathematics, Biology, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Psychology, Public Health, Social Sciences, Statistics, or related fields by the employment start date.

Strong record of scholarly accomplishment demonstrating the ability to build a strong research program.

For Associate Professor level: minimum 5 years of experience.

For Full Professor level: minimum 10 years of academic or related industry experience with substantial research productivity, grant support, and service history.

Research statement:

Teaching statement:

Summarize your past instructional and mentorship experience, pedagogical philosophy, and plans/goals for teaching, including existing and proposed courses. Discuss strategies for teaching and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.

Pay Range:

Assistant Professor: $96,000.00 – $124,000.00 Associate Professor: $110,000.00 – $131,000.00 Professor: $142,000.00 – $220,000.00
