The Role We are looking for a dynamic, energetic Lead / Senior Systems Design Engineer to join our growing team. As a key contributor to the success of AMD’s product, you will drive and improve AMD’s ability to deliver high‑quality, industry‑leading technologies to market while fostering continuous innovation and career development.
The Person As a Systems Design Engineer, you will drive balanced, scalable, and automated solutions. In this high‑visibility position, your software systems engineering expertise will be necessary towards product development, definition, and root‑cause resolution. You will interact across multiple teams to ensure on‑schedule, defect‑free system firmware and reduce AMD’s time‑to‑market.
Key Responsibilities
Develop UEFI code to support bug fixes, features and customizations
Communicate effectively the BIOS development and debug status to key internal/external partners
Work closely with internal UEFI and silicon IP owners for problem analysis and resolution
Track test execution across multiple teams to ensure features are validated and optimized on time
Work with worldwide engineering teams on hardware and firmware issues during board design, bring‑up, feature enablement, bug triage/resolution, and product sustaining support
Collaborate with OEMs to collect product requirements, enable features, and conduct debug investigations
Develop and drive standard methodologies within the BIOS development team
Produce internal documentation for feature development and testing on assigned projects
Participate in continuous improvement of the customer BIOS development processes
Preferred Experience
Expert C programming experience with strong debugging skills
Extensive knowledge of system architecture, technical debug, and validation strategy
Strong analytical/problem‑solving skills and attention to detailSelf‑starter, able to drive tasks to completion independently
Low‑level hardware experience and expertise in UEFI and x86 architecture (AMD x86 a plus)
Knowledge of ACPI architecture and coding
Familiarity with hardware interfaces (PCIe, SPI, I2C, DDR, USB SATA) encouraged
Knowledge of ARM microcontrollers
Experience with software development process methodology and industry standards (UEFI, ACPI, SMBIOS, PCIe)
Solid understanding of Git source‑control
Python scripting experience preferred
Excellent communication skills: verbal, written and interpersonal
5+ years of experience in UEFI BIOS development
Academic Credentials
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in electrical or computer engineering
