Quality Engineering Manager The expected annual salary range for this role is $93,750.03 – $137,500.04 per year. This position is also eligible for a variable incentive program. Please note that salary information is a general guideline only and may vary depending on a candidate’s skills, experience, and market considerations.

What You’ll Do The Quality Engineering Manager is responsible for managing quality within the assigned integrated product team (IPT – value stream) and providing quality function expertise. This position actively manages a team of Quality Engineers and Quality Engineering Technicians to ensure Eaton can meet and exceed customer expectations. The QE Manager establishes stakeholder relationships that foster a positive partnership, facilitates the resolution of customer issues, and provides technical support during the product lifecycle. The manager offers quality leadership, coaching, support, and knowledge of quality philosophies and disciplines to internal and external customers in the coordination of quality improvement efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Deploy significant quality expertise to provide tangible benefit to the organization (product cost, quality, metrics etc.).

Manage, coach, and mentor the quality team by providing mentoring and training support for current and new Quality Engineers and Quality Engineering Technicians.

Member of the Quality Leadership Team which sets site vision, mission, and objectives for quality.

Lead, liaise with, and coordinate with other quality team members to ensure all relevant quality metrics are recorded, utilized, and appropriate to their purpose.

Lead cross‑functional corrective action and/or continuous improvement teams for significant quality activities or programs.

Assist with the preparation of the information needed for the monthly site quality council review.

Responsible for managing Corrective Action Board activities for the assigned IPT.

Take part in continuous improvement by participating in Root Cause Problem Solving projects.

Maintain performance‑management Key Performance Indicators and ensure active participation of the team in daily metric boards and performance‑management meetings.

Leadership in Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and its deployment in the assigned team (IPT‑value stream).

Use the latest quality, problem‑solving techniques, and best working practices (PDCA/DMAIC, SPC, process mapping, cause and effect diagrams, 5 whys, fishbone, A3, 8D, etc.) to assist with standardization and improvements.

Ensure proper handling of non‑conformities and customer complaints, assuring that the root causes are clearly defined and that corrective actions are put in place and sustainable.

Lead quality issue investigation and resolution using problem‑solving techniques.

Identify, develop, and implement systems that will assure product conformance to specifications.

Work within the organization to execute changes and improvements to the quality management system.

Support Failure Mode avoidance activities (PFMEA/DFMEA etc.).

Monitor team compliance to the PPAP process for internal and external parts.

Qualifications

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum of 7 years of manufacturing experience.

Minimum of 3 years of professional management or supervisory leadership experience within quality, manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial fields.

Minimum of 3 years of experience with root‑cause problem‑solving methodologies, such as 5 Why, 8D, A3.

Minimum of 3 years of experience with quality‑control systems and techniques, such as AS9100, ISO 9001, including statistical quality control and inspection and investigation techniques.

Minimum of 3 years of experience using AIAG quality tools to reduce variability and mitigate risk (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, MSA, SPC).

All candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future.

This position requires use of information or access to hardware subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR.

Relocation is not provided. All candidates must currently reside within 50 miles of Eaton’s Westminster, MD facility.

Preferred Qualifications

Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).

Experience in using continuous‑improvement lean manufacturing principles and scrap‑reduction tools (5S+, value stream mapping, PDCA, standard work, and poka‑yoke).

FAA/EASA knowledge.

Skills

Ability to interface at all levels.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Good time‑management skills.

High level of computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Administrative skills required to guide product quality, employee involvement, and productivity programs.

Highly developed human relations, communications, and internal consulting skills necessary to establish and maintain effective work relationships with various plant functions, customer and supplier personnel.
