NaphCare is hiring a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team of medical professionals at the Fulton County Jail in Atlanta, GA.

Responsibilities

Assessing, diagnosing and treating patients with psychiatric disorders

Medication management including prescribing, adjusting and discontinuing medication as needed

Maintaining accurate and comprehensive patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes

Responding to psychiatric emergencies, providing immediate interventions and safety protocols within the facility

Coordinate, lead and participate in educational training activities related to mental health care

Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards

Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including correctional staff, psychologists, social workers and other medical professionals to develop and implement treatment plans and ensuring staff are responsive to patients’ needs

Qualifications

Board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in the state of Georgia

Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) license in state

A current DEA registration in state

Must possess an active BLS/CPR Certification (AHA preferred)

Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders

Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals and correctional staff

Must possess strong written communication and verbal skills and have strong computer skills

Strong assessment and diagnostic skills

Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards

Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information

Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements

Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Physical Capabilities Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
