Senior Mine Planning Engineer position based in the Anchorage, Alaska office, responsible for leading strategic mine planning functions for one of the world’s largest undeveloped gold mining projects. Reports to the General Manager and handles life‑of‑mine planning, pit and waste design, mine scheduling, and equipment optimization, collaborating across departments to ensure operational excellence, safety, and efficiency. Role Senior Mine Planning Engineer
Roles and Responsibilities
Perform strategic mine planning, pit and waste storage facility design, scenario analysis, and scheduling.
Produce annual detailed Life of Mine plans and schedules.
Prepare mine designs, optimizing ultimate extents, phasing, mining method selection, and waste storage facility configuration.
Develop life‑of‑mine plans and forecasts, addressing all aspects of mine planning, reporting, development, safety, quality projection, volumetrics, sequencing, and environmental considerations.
Determine optimal fleet requirements and equipment selection based on site‑specific production needs and geometrical configurations.
Assist in preparing site budgets and capital requests related to mine planning.
Coordinate with Geology, Processing, Mining, Environmental, and Business senior staff and management.
Communicate and present mine plans to stakeholders including management, processing, and mine operations teams.
Determine cut‑off grades and stockpiling strategies.
Perform and report on annual reserve and resource estimations.
Carry out other duties as assigned by management.
Skills and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
Minimum of 12 years’ mining experience required; 15 years preferred.
2–3 years’ experience at an operating mine site (large‑scale open pit preferred).
2–3 years’ experience in short/medium‑term planning; minimum of 2 years’ long‑term planning experience.
Proficient with mine planning software (e.g., Whittle, Vulcan, Deswik) and Microsoft Office suite.
Experience with fleet management systems (Dispatch, MineStar, etc.).
Strong understanding of mine planning and surveying for large‑scale open pit operations.
Demonstrated ability to deliver results on schedule and within budget.
Commitment to safety and experience working in multicultural and cold‑climate environments.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate at all organizational levels.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Willingness to travel as required.

Compensation: Competitive salary, commensurate with experience
Schedule: Full‑time, Monday–Friday, with occasional travel as project needs dictate
Reimbursements: Travel and site visit expenses reimbursed as per company policy
