Essential Functions
Leads Northeast Region territory underwriting strategy execution and performance to drive profitability, compliance, and operational efficiency.
Adheres to established countrywide appetite underwriting guidelines while identifying opportunities to develop supplemental regional guidance within those parameters.
Fosters collaboration with internal stakeholders and agency partners, leveraging data‑driven insights to enhance pricing accuracy and risk assessment.
Ensures underwriting quality, compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and drives continuous innovation in alignment with broader company strategies.
Leads team development, providing training, coaching, and succession planning to build a high‑performing underwriting unit.
Represents underwriting in strategic planning, drives agency engagement, and enhances operational effectiveness to support sustainable growth.
Operates in close collaboration with Field and Corporate Office Underwriting and Sales leadership.
Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree, preferably in insurance or business administration or equivalent relevant experience
Ten years of commercial lines underwriting experience, including at least four years of experience directly leading and developing teams, or related experience
CPCU designation or other underwriting‑related designation(s) preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Extensive expertise in underwriting principles and risk management strategies with the ability to oversee and shape underwriting policies to align with organizational goals
Advanced problem‑solving and decision‑making skills, leveraging data‑driven insights and forward‑thinking approaches to address complex challenges
Exceptional leadership capabilities, with demonstrated success in mentoring and inspiring high‑performing teams to exceed goals and embrace change
Exceptional ability to identify and seize opportunities for operational efficiencies and revenue growth while maintaining rigorous standards of quality and compliance
Strong ability to lead large‑scale initiatives and manage multiple cross‑functional projects, while maintaining focus on long‑term organizational objectives
Demonstrated success working in cross‑functional/departmental alignment and matrixed management structure
Advanced ability to design and execute strategic business plans, aligning departmental objectives with the company’s mission and growth strategies
Exceptional written communication, public speaking and facilitation skills, with the capacity to represent the organization at industry events
Occasional travel; a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report per company standards will be required if driving
Compensation Hiring salary range
based on geographic location: $149,392 – $214,114 or $164,706 – $236,054. The actual salary will depend on relevant education, skills, and experience of the applicant, geographic location or business needs.
