General Manager – Retail Operations
Join SSA Group as a General Manager of Retail Operations at the Griffin Museum of Science and Industry.
Base Pay Range:
$85,000.00/yr – $95,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Serve as liaison between SSA Group and client, maintaining excellent relationships and ensuring client and customer satisfaction.
Oversee the Retail Operations Manager, Unit Controller and employee team.
Ensure all retail functions and oversight are met or exceeded.
Perform SSA EXTRA Guest Service steps to ensure a memorable experience for every guest and client.
Maintain knowledge and implementation of the contract between SSA Group and client with professional discretion.
Host all meetings for senior staff employees.
Conduct training sessions as needed, ensuring each manager is properly and thoroughly trained.
Support progressive discipline documentation in the field through ongoing establishment with the management team and staff.
Ensure all fiscal deadlines are met to HQ.
Manage final check on all invoices processed through the account in a detailed, consistent, and timely manner.
Maintain a close relationship with direct client report and the client's staff to ensure a positive working relationship.
Attend client meetings and report monthly (or as dictated) to the Regional Manager(s)/District Manager.
Provide precise reports to the Regional District Manager for cash reconciliation, flash reporting, item analysis, monthly inventory, and payroll percentages.
Assume an active role in long‑range planning for all retail programs.
Remain knowledgeable of and manage in accordance with all applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Uphold and demonstrate a complete understanding of company policies and procedures.
Perform other tasks deemed necessary.
Job Requirements
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to articulate to our client and HQ personnel.
Proven leadership skills with an understanding of the importance of team building/development, while fostering partnerships.
Exceptional problem solving/decision making skills combined with the ability to be organized.
Demonstrated financial management, merchandising, analytical, planning and leadership skills.
Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a fast‑paced environment.
Computer knowledge and skill level for basic office functions.
Ability to work varied hours/days, including nights, weekends and holidays, as needed.
Previous Experience
Two to five years of retail management experience in cultural, iconic, amusement or museum attractions preferred.
Strong experience with retail gifts, financial statements, building projects, contract and client management, personnel management and development, communication and computer skills.
All educational backgrounds accepted; must be 18 or older.
Compensation and Benefits
Full‑time, exempt.
Final compensation determined by experience, education, and internal equity.
Bonus eligible based on company guidelines.
Flexible Vacation or Time Away From Work (TAFW) plan: no accruals; employees encouraged to schedule time off as needed within business scope.
